How did DOKA come to be?
Well, the obvious response is because of my love of dogs, combined with my passion for exercise (I’m a runner and a triathlete).
But DOKA is much more than that.
Inspired by how my mother-in-law leads her life, sharing her home in a small, rural town in the highlands of Costa Rica (that’s right, where that great coffee you’re probably tasting comes from) with more than 80 rescued dogs (Yes! 80 dogs!!), sharing time with her and her four-legged companions, an idea popped into my mind. Witnessing her love and dedication towards these wonderful animals motivated me even more, and taking into account my active and entrepreneurial spirit, the idea took shape and then took off.
I’m Monica, but my friends and family call me Moka (which sounds like mocha). That’s my story, and that’s how DOKA came to be.
